The background story
At last. I’ve finally found a cure for night cramps that really does work for me. Nothing fancy and cheaper than chips.

Introduction
Anyone who suffers from night cramps and sore muscles is going to love this. As I’ve gotten older, I’m now 75, I’ve experienced lots of night cramps and muscle strains that just don’t seem to want to heal. It’s been a nightmare really. I’ve asked Doctors advice, but no-one has ever nailed the problem. I’ve thought all along that there must be a cure for night cramps that really does work. It was to prove elusive.
About seven years ago, before the cramps started, I damaged the ligaments in my right knee. I was in a lot of pain with that until I had an operation to repair the ligaments. After the surgery I was told that although the ligaments were sorted, I’d also damaged the cartilage in the knee. The only option I was told, would be to have a knee replacement. I decided to delay that sort of surgery until I had no choice. In fact, my knee and I got on really well, for most of the time anyway. I did have a bit of a limp, but it was manageable.
As time went on, I began to experience discomfort in my left hip. It was at this time that I began to have the cramps, especially in my legs. I also, somehow, sprained my left shoulder. This was probably about four years ago. Over the following three years the cramps got worse, and my muscles seemed to deteriorate too. There was no discernible improvement to the shoulder. At seventy plus years, I put all this down to getting old. It was only partially true.
At the end of 2024, I decided that my discomfort warranted me to ask for a knee replacement. I was referred to a specialist who examined me about eight weeks ago. His conclusion was that the knee didn’t yet warrant changing. He went on to ask me why I wanted a replacement. I explained about the cramps, hip pain and muscle problems, and me believing that my gait was the root cause of all these things. He disagreed and said I should wait another six months before moving on. I had no choice but to agree to the delay. Nightmare!
Action after the disappointment
The one thing that he did say that was to start me thinking, was that in years gone by, people with cramp used to drink tonic water with gin. They did this for the quinine in the tonic. The gin was optional…. In fact, quinine is rarely available generally, except in prescription medicines. I did try the tonic water, but with Irish whisky instead of gin. It was delicious, but didn’t help the cramps. It did though give me an idea. I was still looking for a cure for night cramps that really does work.
My eureka moment
Over the following week I researched all sorts of old remedies and potions, and whilst doing this found a reference to the benefits of young green coconuts. I was pretty desperate to find a cure for night cramps that really does work. I was intrigued and decided to check it out, but? Where can you buy green coconuts? I had no idea. It actually turned out that I didn’t need to buy green coconuts at all. The water from green coconuts is available to buy in the UK in the larger Sainsbury supermarkets for about £5.00. Maybe elsewhere too?
Please note that not all coconut water being sold comes from young green coconuts. Some drinks are not pure having added rice water or similar. Also, some of the drinks available come from old coconuts. These are not as potent.
You only need to drink half a pint, or about 250mls a day.
Success!
What follows is completely true. No affiliate links and no sales patter.
I bought the 1 litre of coconut water from Sainsbury’s for £4. In the first 24 hours, the cramps were still there but nowhere near as bad. By the third night, the cramps had gone! It was definitely working!
I started looking at why it was working. It transpired that green coconuts are high in electrolytes, and I guess I wasn’t consuming enough in my diet. Add to this, my liking for a couple of pints of lager or beer at night. I asked Google whether beer washes out electrolytes? The answer is YES. I was beginning to understand. Can I get the electrolytes from a cheaper source. I started checking sports drinks.
Most of the sports drinks I looked at were heavy with sugar, some were caffeine boosters. I didn’t want either of these. I found my answer on Amazon. The product is called ‘High5 Zero’. No sugar, no calories and no caffeine. It does, however, have the important electrolytes that I didn’t know I needed.
I’ve been using this product for a couple of weeks now with the following results:-
No night cramps
Big improvement to left shoulder
Improved muscle behaviour
Much reduced hip discomfort
I still have bit of knee discomfort because of the cartilage damage but won’t be asking for a replacement anytime soon.
Time to save some money
Now let me save you some money if you are in the UK. I bought one tube of 20 dissolving tablets from Amazon for £4.35 with free delivery. On the tube is the web address of the manufacturer. Look them up. For about £11 including £2.99 postage, they will send you eight tubes, total 160 tablets of the same product. I believe that I will probably need to continue with this product so am going to follow this, my own advice.
If this product isn’t available in your territory you’ll realise that there are other similar products that will do the same job
Do yourself a BIG favour. Try this for less than £5. It has worked for me. No need for drugs or pain killers. I believe I have found a cure for night cramps that really does work! Some of my friends, including Maureen, a sprightly 85 years old who suffered awful night cramps in her feet. She, and others agree. We appear to have found cure for night cramps that really does work.
The product supplied is available in several different flavours, but not knowing this at the time, I took their default, Tropical. It really is very nice. One tablet should be dissolved (it’s fizzy) in 750mls of water. Fortunately, each tablet has a middle break line. For me, it’s more convenient to break the tab in half and dissolve in 375ml of water. I do this twice a day and keep the drink in the fridge.
A promise
Every word of this article is true and written directly from my own experience. Whether young or old, we need to properly look after our bodies. Many will argue that all of the electrolytes we need are in the food we eat, and it’s absolutely true. In real life however, this is not always possible. These cheap little helpers can provide a massive lift if you are short of electrolytes. No drugs, no calories and no caffeine.
At last, we really have found a cure for night cramp that really does work
Not sure? Ask your Doctor for a blood test and an ‘electrolyte panel’ request. Or, just simply buy a tube and try it for yourself.
