About Us. An easy enough subject to discuss. There are two of us and we’ve lived on a small boat for more than 20 years, We’re very practical and look after all aspects of maintenance ourselves. More about Us later. Let’s get moving!

I spent years inadvertantly spending money I didn’t need to, but it takes time to learn the tips and tricks that can save us a fortune over time. I’m retired now and have far more time now that I can call my own.

Many of us have leisure interests that sometimes cause us problems. I’m thinking specifically about those of us that enjoy and/or own an RV, Boat or Caravan. While distinctly different in their own way, all these vehicles have a lot in common. A lot of the equipment used is the same and the same faults can occur in them all. I hope to save you money by shedding light on some of the trade secrets.

As a couple we’ve lived aboard boats for well over 20 years. My own background stems back to an early career of apprentice mechanic and moving through the trade into specialist training in auto transmission systems and  MOT testing. The culmination of all that was building a garage business of my own. I moved on from that through various forms practical employment but ultimately leading to a brand new career in manufacturing led by CAD, computer aided design. Between us we have had a wide range of experiences that have helped us in our epic ownership of a classic old motor sailer, 1951 vintage.

These experiences are broad in nature and have allowed us to grasp more than a little knowledge of the working systems of most types of recreational vehicles. In this site I’m enjoying sharing information, tips and tricks that can save you money.

As always, the advice I’m offering has to be taken only if you fully understand the instructions. If you’re not sure, look for more information on the subject. Although it’s not available yet, I am considering a Youtube channel to assist, but until that is available bear in mind that if you read something here that encourages you into doing the work yourself, more advice is available on Youtube anyway. Simply search.
